Acadia National Park Illustrated Travelogue

In mid-September I visited Acadia National Park on Mt. Desert Island in Maine. We camped there for five nights. These images document my time on the island. They were made in Procreate and are based off of photographs.
On our first day we hiked the "Six Summits" trail. This was the view from the first of the six summits (Bald Peak). There's a lot of iconic sights on the island but I felt like this view is a great representation of what is so cool and special about this place: the abundance of both fresh and salt water breaking up the tree covered hills and mountains into little islands within the larger island.
From Bald Peak we could see the 3rd of the six summits, Gilmore Peak. I'm not sure if I agree that the tops of these mountains are deserts really, but I've barely spent any time in the desert so what do I know? At the very least you definitely need to wear sunscreen up there.
We spent the second day kayaking and bopping around Bar Harbor. In the evening we explored the coast line trail, Ocean Path.
On the third day, we did a couple trails up Beech Mountain. Later in the day we stopped briefly to see the sandbar land bridge to Bar Island that appears during low tide. I like this drawing because it's the only one in the group that gives you a sense of how popular Mt. Dessert Island is.
Our fourth and last day on the island started with a hike up the Precipice Trail. It was a true highlight and I haven't drawn it (at least not yet) and that's mostly because my photos are largely of my friends and I scrambling up rocks and hanging onto metal bars on cliff edges. In the afternoon my boyfriend and I waited grumpily for a table at the Jordan Pond House. Ultimately we found the popovers to be over-rated, but the pond was pretty gorgeous.
On the evening of our last day, my friends and I drove up Cadillac mountain for sunset. The sun would eventually dip under a massive cloud in the distance, but we still stuck around till the end.
